Qalaa Holdings announces its annual scholarships winners

Qalaa Holdings celebrated on Sunday its 12th year in the market, announcing the names of the winners of its annual scholarships. Sixteen students from 14 governorates were named. Since its establishment 12 years ago, Qalaa Holdings provided 184 scholarships for students to obtain master’s and PhD degrees from numerous international universities.

Founder and chairperson of the company, Ahmed Heikal, said that all parties, including the public and private sectors, are responsible for developing Egyptian youth. He pointed out to the high number of females among the winners of the awards (50%), saying that he is proud of the positive outcomes of the programme.

Heikal also said that the winners of the scholarships succeeded in different cultural and scientific fields, as well as enterprising.

Qalaa Holdings requires the beneficiaries of its scholarships to return to Egypt after completing their study abroad.

Hesham Al-Khazindar, co-founder of the company, stressed the importance of ensuring the continuity of supporting Egyptian youth, regardless of their economic situation.  

The celebration was attended by a number of public figures, including Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Waly, Minister of Planning Hala Al-Saeed, and Minister of Public Sector Affairs Khaled Badawi. 

Al-Saeed said that her ministry is working on preparing a list of the disciplines needed for developing the Egyptian economy, as part of Egypt’s Vision 2030, saying that the ministry is coordinating with Qalaa Holdings to concentrate on those disciplines.
