Manpower Ministry disburses EGP 57m in aid to 48,000 tourism workers

The Employees Emergency Fund, affiliated to Ministry of Manpower, has started disbursing the first batch of emergency aid to tourism workers who have been affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan said, on Monday, about EGP 57m in aid will be paid to 48,968 workers in 205 tourism facilities, which represent 100% of their basic salaries, at a minimum of EGP 600, as per the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

Saafan pointed out that 3,800 tourist establishments so far have applied for the emergency aid, and their applications are under study.

The Employees Emergency Fund, chaired by the manpower minister, was established in 2002 to compensate those who are working in institutions, whose activities ceased over an emergency, as well as support enterprises to overcome crises and continue production.
