Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed on Thursday with his British counterpart, Dominic Raab, methods of enhancing and upgrading bilateral relations between Egypt and the UK.
A statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Ahmed Hafez, said the two ministers praised Egypt-UK cooperation during the phone call. He also mentioned the importance of further enhancing the cooperation to achieve the interests of the two countries.
Hafez added that the phone call also tackled a number of regional issues of mutual interest, including developments in the Palestinian issue, and the importance of preserving the two-state solution.
They also exchanged their views on the Libyan crisis, and ways to advance efforts to reach a political settlement and comprehensively restore security and stability in the country, he said.
Hafez noted that both Shoukry and Raab discussed ways of combating the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The two ministers noted the need for intensified bilateral coordination at the international level to curb the further spread of the virus and reduce its repercussions.
